Recreational Boating Safety Programs
ADVISE / ASSIST / EDUCATE

PROGRAM VISITORS (Formerly Called Marine Dealer Visitor)  We qualify to be a Program Visitor, by studying, taking the test and working with an older member on our first visits. We are responsible to the dealers we visit, to keep them up to date on rules and regulations from the State of Arizona, as well as Federal Rules that govern boaters on Federal Waterways.  One set of rules does not replace the other but work in conjunction with each other depending on the areas that have recreational boating.   As program visitors we are responsible also for providing the Marine Dealers with current literature on rules and regulations as well as other pamphlets and hand outs that compliment recreational boating.  One that is very important at this point is Water Way Watch.  We also stand ready to answer questions, from their customers and staff on boating rules and regulations. Ultimately through the Marine Dealer Visitor program, we have the opportunity to work with boat owners that are their customers.  We need more Program Visitors in our Division; we have many Marine Dealers in our area that need our counsel and assistance.

VESSEL EXAMINERS This is also a vital part of getting the message of safety on the water out to recreational boaters, as well as examining their boats to be sure they meet at least the minimum equipment requirements on their boats according to the Coast Guard and local law enforcement agencies, that it is in serviceable condition, and in the quantities according to the number of persons that will be on their boats. The big operative words here is WEAR YOUR LIFE JACKET any time you are underway on the water. Each time we do a vessel examination we have the opportunity through discussion with the boat owner while doing the vessel safety check the importance of safety on the water. Vessel examiners take a similar path to qualify as a vessel examiner.  Study, take the examinations, and perform 5 vessel examinations under the supervision of a qualified vessel examiner and get out and do vessel exams
