Marine Safety (MS) supports the Coast Guard’s programs in marine safety & marine environmental protection. Local USCG-AUX activities within Division 10 (Arizona) include:
- support in navigational chart verification of Aids to Navigation (ATON)
- coordination & participation in local marine clean-up events
- environmental education programs for marina staff & general public (Good Mate & Sea Partners)
- invasive species awareness (quagga mussels)
- local homeland security projects through America’s Waterways Watch/Marine Domain Awareness programs
At a District & National level, Marine Safety provides support in:
- marine environmental & pollution response assistance
- port safety and security inspections
- commercial vessel safety and security inspections
- container inspection assistance
- mariner licensing/ documentation/course audits
- waterways management/Navigation Systems
- America's Waterways Watch
- MISLE support
- environmental education programs (Sea Partners, Good Mate)
Direct operational support & augmentation of the active duty Coast Guard is also possible through the recently developed Trident Program.
