About Division 10

What is the Coast Guard doing in Arizona?

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is the uniformed civilian component of the United States Coast Guard. Created by an Act of Congress in 1939, the Auxiliary directly supports the Coast Guard in all missions, except military and direct law enforcement actions. The Coast Guard Auxiliary is an integral part of the United States Coast Guard. In the state of Arizona, members of Division 10 patrol Lakes Saguaro, Canyon, Roosevelt, Pleasant, Bartlett, and Powell.  It also assists, from time-to-time, Division 9 with duty on Lakes Mead, Mohave, Havasu and the Colorado River

What kind of "missions" do you do?

We have many missions to help further the goals of the United States of America and the U.S. Coast Guard.

  • Safety Patrols
  • Search and Rescue
  • Port and Marina Security
  • Marine Safety and Environmental Protection
  • Vessel Examinations
  • Marine Dealer Liaisons
  • Public Education (Boating Safety Courses)
  • Public Affairs
  • Legislative Outreach
  • ...and several others.
  • How do I join?

The Auxiliary is a volunteer civilian organization. Membership is open to any citizen, 17 years of age or older who meets qualifications. While boat, aircraft or radio station ownership or special skills are desirable, they are not mandatory for membership. People from all walks of life are needed. Some expenses associated with the Auxiliary membership and participation are tax deductible.
